MN Tech Connect, hosted by the Minnesota Technology Association, brings together business and technology leaders from across the state to explore how emerging technologies are being applied in real-world business environments.
This year’s event focused heavily on artificial intelligence and its role in shaping business operations. Sessions highlighted how organizations are adopting AI, the opportunities it presents, and the practical considerations that come with implementation.
Justin Johnson, Director of Technology at The PLUM Catalyst, attended MN Tech Connect on behalf of the team. During the conference, he participated in discussions focused on AI adoption, business applications, and how organizations are approaching implementation across different sectors.

Conference Highlights
A key theme throughout the event was the shift from exploration to application. Rather than focusing on future possibilities, discussions centered on how Minnesota businesses are actively using AI today to support operations and decision-making.
Sessions also emphasized the importance of understanding both the opportunities and the risks associated with AI integration. While large-scale implementation challenges may vary, organizations are navigating similar considerations around reliability, workflow integration, and long-term impact.
For PLUM, the conversation reinforced the importance of approaching emerging technologies with intention. Staying informed is critical, but so is aligning adoption with organizational capacity, goals, and the communities being served.
Another takeaway was the advantage of working within smaller, trusted teams when testing and implementing new tools. This approach allows for greater flexibility, faster iteration, and more practical application without overly complex processes.
