Getting Around is Free, Fun, & For Everyone!
Launched in 2022 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, goMARTI connects residents and visitors to key destinations through a mix of autonomous, hybrid-electric, and fully electric vehicles. Operating year-round — even through northern Minnesota winters — the service shows how technology and thoughtful design can expand access, independence, and opportunity in every kind of community.
Building on the success of its pilot phase, goMARTI 2.0 has expanded the service to additional areas and added more vehicles to increase capacity and reach more riders across northern Minnesota.
The PLUM Catalyst: Leading the Movement
As the operations lead for goMARTI, The PLUM Catalyst oversees every part of the program — from strategic planning and partner management to community engagement and daily operations.
PLUM built the partnerships, manages ongoing implementation and reporting, and continues to guide the project’s long-term growth. What began as a small pilot has evolved into a national model for rural mobility innovation, inspiring other communities to see what’s possible when collaboration drives technology forward.
Innovation With Measurable Results
74,194 rides completed since launch
95% repeat riders
437,538 miles driven
6 AVs and 3 non-AVs in the fleet
6 wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAVs)
Service expanded to 150+ stops across Grand Rapids, La Prairie, and beyond
Each of these numbers tells a story of connection, opportunity, and access for the people who live, work, and visit northern Minnesota. Through continued innovation and strong partnerships, goMARTI is delivering more than rides — it’s delivering independence.

A True Public-Private Partnership
goMARTI brings together public agencies, private companies, and local organizations — including May Mobility, Via, Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), Itasca County, and the City of Grand Rapids — to deliver a seamless, sustainable, and future-ready service.
With The PLUM Catalyst coordinating every layer of collaboration, this initiative sets a new standard for inclusive innovation in mobility — a model built on partnership, trust, and a shared vision for what’s next.
Media Day 2025: Celebrating Progress and Expansion
On October 23, The PLUM Catalyst hosted goMARTI Media Day at the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, MN, celebrating the project’s ongoing success and next phase of expansion. The event highlighted new milestones — including additional vehicles, expanded service areas, workforce development initiatives, and future advancements in autonomous operations — reaffirming goMARTI’s place as a national leader in rural innovation.
